Airlines have their own company policies and requirements when hiring staff and workers. Therefore, what applies to some may not apply to others, and vice versa.

Barbiebac is a flight attendant with nearly five million followers on TikTok who creates content about her job and the world of aviation. In one of her latest posts, she revealed the peculiar requirements some airlines have for joining.

This is the case with Emirates, where "you can't wear braces if you want to be a flight attendant, nor braces or invisible aligners. I found it very strange because even I just got some and they're not visible," explains the flight attendant herself.

“They also don’t like conspicuous scars or moles.”

“A smile is very important for a crew member, and many don't have one out of choice, but out of necessity. It's something to improve your health, not just aesthetically, like tattoos, which are simply a personal choice,” he adds.

"Airlines often impose safety requirements, but truth be told, most of the time they're simply for image. In this case, Emirates doesn't want its flight attendants to have anything "strange" in their mouths. They also don't like conspicuous scars or moles," the statement concludes.
